Horizontal Well Technology Google+ Page

by admin on January 19, 2012

About a month ago I created a Google+ Page for Engineering Solutions. We titled the page “Horizontal Well Design” and started to post some activity and blog posts on the page. See the page below:

Google + Page Success

It has been interesting to see what Google has done with their search results, in particular, their Google+ Page results.  Despite the fact that we started this website 6 months ago, and have posted 40 blog posts, our new Google+ page actually ranked higher for the keyword “Horizontal Well Design” on Google.  As you can see our page is #6 currently, and moving up.

It is interesting that 4 of the 5 results above us on Google are PDF files.  Why is that?  Doesn’t Google like new and fresh information?  A PDF does not change.  It seems to me that by it’s very nature it should be ranked lower.  Maybe the team at Google is working on this.  If so, our Google+ page could legitimately find itself in the top 2 results for our target keyword!

Nice work. I was toying with the idea of doing something similar as a test. It looks as if it’s very similar to SEOing your Facebook page, plus the fact that Google prefers itself. My only worry is that Google might penalize pages that go this route just like Place pages. That’s what has kept me from doing it. Thoughts?
